History

Until 1991 Luxury Chalet Elitsa Wellness & Spa was known as Residence Elitsa – a former base of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party and one of the favorite places of the socialist leader Todor Zhivkov. For decades, it has been a place for important meetings, seminars and recreation of the country’s rulers at the time. Like most socialist properties, this one is located in an exceptional place – a completely southern slope, surrounded by centuries-old pine forests. Although built more than 60 years ago, the residence shows the scope and uncompromisingness of the materials used, design and quality of the project.
